At Motswedi Securities we are extremely goal orientated. Without goals how would one measure if they have achieved or not? Our goals have been very simple:
Lead the market
We will understand the market best. We will invest in top end research capabilities
Be the pioneer walking the path least used
Remain locally owned commitment remains with this market. We will master Botswana
These being our goals here are some of our more notable achievements:
Entirely 100% locally owned and managed after our 10 year history
Have been instrumental in helping companies raise cheaper capital in the market, and at the same time making it possible for others to invest in those companies from around the globe
Have participated in enabling ordinary "small" investors to take advantage of the wealth that has been created on the market over time
We have also played a major part in helping increase market awareness among small investors through our various publications e.g. research, presentations and other useful literature aimed primarily at the unsophisticated investor
While we achieved the above the whole market recorded the following achievements.
Institutional framework has continued to improve over the years (for example, dematerialization through the introduction of the central securities depository)
Regulatory framework has continually been improved, with the impending passing of the Securities Bill due to replace the existing BSE Act. The Members Rules and the Listings Requirements have also been revamped, and are continuing to be worked on, on a continual basis
The markets as a whole has grown in depth and breadth over the years, offering a wider selection of securities to invest in.
